Renee Hoover pauses near her award-winning contemporary Cherokee wedding attire at The Non-Profit Center Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014. Hoover created this 18th century Cherokee attire for the contemporary bride who wishes to celebrate her Cherokee heritage. The piece was inspired by 18th century women's wrap skirts and leggings. According to Barbara R. Duncan, Ph.D., the wrap skirt was originally worn underneath a trade shirt or chemise that hung over the skirt. The skirt was belted and worn with leggings.
