Leona Mitchell, an American operatic soprano, performs "The Star Spangled Banner" during the Enid High School Black History Month Assembly Thursday, February 15, 2018. Mitchell, who was born in Enid and graduated from Enid High School, is a grammy award winner as a soprano in "Porgy & Bess" and sang 18 seasons as leading spinto soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame inductee, Oklahoma State Cultural Ambassador and Oklahoma African American Hall of Fame inductee are just a few of her many accomplishments.
