Read MoreVida Chenoweth, the first Classical Marimbist, linguist and pioneer in ethnomusicology for her analytical writings on unwritten music systems, enjoys the Enid High School Orchestra performance at Sterling House Thursday, April 23, 2015. Dr. Chenoweth performed in Carnegie Hall and with major symphony orchestras worldwide. She was acclaimed by New York and European critics as the one who elevated the marimba to concert status. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1984, the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 1994 and in 2001 was selected by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England, as one of the 2000 outstanding musicians of the 20th century.
